As you know, on June 20, an EF-3 tornado moved through the area. Thousands were without power, and some people lost their homes. Others sustained significant property damage caused by high winds and trees that were ripped from the ground. While damage was severe, there were no fatalities reported.

I have worked with public officials and emergency response personnel from throughout the 41st District to ensure everything that can possibly be done to help residents with recovery is happening. I have been impressed with the response efforts, and those involved have my deepest gratitude.

This weekend on Saturday and Sunday, those who sustained damage are encouraged to attend a Multi-Agency Resource Center (MARC) event that will be held at Thomas Jefferson Junior High School (7200 Janes Avenue). More than 20 different disaster relief agencies/groups will be available at this one location to provide resources and assistance. Anyone who needs assistance should bring proof of address and a photo I.D. to the school for this event.

Saturday: 10:00 AM until 7:00 PM

Sunday: 9:00 AM until 12:00 PM

This multi-agency event is organized by the Community Organizations Active in in Disaster (COAD) of Northeast Illinois, of which the American Red Cross is a partner.
