DOWNERS GROVE, IL -- An upcoming road construction project will close part of 55th Street in Downers Grove and Westmont starting next week, according to DuPage County officials. The project will reduce traffic on 55th Street to one lane in each direction between Maple Avenue/Dunham Road and Williams Street.

The $8.5 million project includes a number of traffic changes and utility improvements.

Crews will be working to widen the intersection at 55th and Main Street and adding a left turn lane in either direction. The intersection of 55th and Fairview will also be widened and left turn lanes will be added along 55th Street, officials said.
