Darien Lions Club Food Baskets Bring Joy To Families In Need
Last year, the Darien Lions Club donated food to more than 250 families during its food basket drive.

DARIEN, IL — For more than 40 years, the Darien Lions Club has prepared donated food baskets for families in need. The first year, they made just over a dozen baskets. In 2016, more than 250 baskets were filled with toys for kids and various food items. They hope to beat that number this year and help even more local families in need.
Over the years, the Darien Lions Club baskets have helped families in Darien, Willowbrook, Westmont, and Downers Grove, according to the Lions Club website.
It costs $75 to sponsor a family for the Lions Club basket drive and donations are accepted year-round. In a post on its website, the Lions Club expressed thanks to residents and business owners who have helped by donating to help each family receive "a ham, turkey, dairy products, produce and canned food including toys for the children of these families which were personally presented."
