David Alan Meilbeck: June 18, 1938 - Sept. 3, 2019

A celebration of life is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 14th, 2019 at McDonald Farm's Clow House.

David Alan Meilbeck; husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, son, brother, uncle, great uncle, great grand uncle, and friend, died unexpectedly on September 3rd, 2019 at the age of 81 while camping in nearby Indiana.

David is survived by his wife, Deborah Hamilton; his children, Meg (Michael) Machacek, Larry (Joy) Meilbeck, Phillip (Laurie) Meilbeck, Karen (Dennis) Golden, Jeff Meilbeck; daughter-in-law, Cheryl Meilbeck; his grandchildren, Marcus (Ruthie) Machacek, Michelle (Brian) Madden, Cassidy (Danny) Rockey, Daniel Meilbeck, Chris (Mely) Burgess, Caitlin (Tony) Norman, Michael Meilbeck, Tasia (George) Garcia, Courtney (Nick) Kalinka, Robert Meilbeck, Lauren and Mandolin Meilbeck; and his great-grandchildren Liam, Willow, Bryce, Molly, Beck, Colin, Marina, Oliver, Violet, and Everlee, with another great-granddaughter, and two great-grandsons due before Thanksgiving; his brother, Harry (Jane) Meilbeck and his sister, Merey Podehl; as well as several generations of nieces and nephews, and many dear friends.

David is predeceased by his parents, and brothers; James A. Meilbeck and Robert E. Meilbeck; granddaughter, Keri Meilbeck.

David was born in Wyandotte, MI on June 18, 1938 to Edward Eli Meilbeck and Velma Clare Donner.
He grew up in Cheboygan, MI and graduated from St. Charles High School in 1957. On October 5,
1957 he married Sharon Ann LaHaie, a floral designer and his high school sweetheart. The pair
relocated to Brookfield, IL and welcomed all five of their children between 1959 and 1964. David and Sharon later divorced. David married Deborah Hamilton on November 19, 1977.

David was a devoted friend, loyal employee of Chicago Metallic Corporation (1957-2000), and a log home enthusiast. His many interests included camping, boating, enjoying nature, woodworking, lapidary art, historic structures, cooking (campfire, grill, fireplace or stove), antique collections of cast iron cookware, early electric toasters, kitchen gadgets, unique tools, and porcelain clocks. He volunteered at the Conservation Foundation for several years, building nest boxes and monitoring the bluebird trail at McDonald Farm. He was also a problem-solver who often took on difficult projects at work and around the house.

He will be deeply missed by his friends, family, and all who knew him.

A celebration of life is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 14th, 2019 at
McDonald Farm’s Clow House, 10s404 Knoch Knolls Rd in Naperville, IL 60565. Burial is private.
Please dress comfortably for a rustic location. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be
