DGN Boys Swim and Dive Team Places 5th in Conference Championships

Many of the Trojan boys swam personal best times in this highly competitive conference meet.

The Downers Grove North Boys Varsity Swim and Dive Team placed fifth in the West Suburban Conference Silver Division Championships on Feb. 5 and 6 at Downers Grove North High School.

Lyons Township won the conference title, with Hinsdale Central placing second.

Hinsdale Central won the Fresh/Soph Competition, while LT took the top spot in the Junior Varsity competition. The DGN Fresh/Soph and JV teams placed sixth.

The Varsity Trojans Ben Ellstrom (So.), Jack Costello (So.), Matt Benge (Jr.), and John Pitelka (Jr.) placed third in the 200 medley relay event with a season best time of 1:45.26. Benge took fourth place in the 100 yard butterfly, and Ellstrom placed fourth in the 100 yard backstroke race. Costello placed sixth in the 100 yard breaststroke event.

DGN Sophomore Luc Collo placed fourth in the fresh/soph 100 yard butterfly event. Freshman Adam Andrews took sixth place in the fresh/soph 200 yard freestyle race. Many of the Trojan boys swam personal best times in this highly competitive conference meet.

In the Varsity 1 meter Diving event, DGN freshman Kevin Sullivan placed third with a score of 426.65 and junior Ryan Murphy placed fourth with a score of 419.45. Trojan junior Adan Calleja took first place in the JV diving event (326.05).
