Downers Grove Announces Lineup for November Gingerbread Festival

Okay, so we know that Halloween just ended, but is it ever really too early to start planning for Christmas?

Downtown Downers Grove just released its schedule for its Gingerbread Festival, and it’s looking like it'll be a tasty weekend. Check out what will be going on from Nov. 25-Nov. 27 below.

Friday, November 25, 2016

• There will be a Gingerbread Man Hunt all day long. These are the participating businesses
• Story-time at the Downers Grove Library starts at 3:30 p.m. Doors open at 3:15 p.m., and space is limited. Stories will be geared toward preschool through second grade kids.
• There will be a procession to the Tree Lighting Ceremony after Story-time at the library.
• The Tree Lighting Ceremony begins at 4:30 p.m.
• You can pick up your Gingerbucks Reward Card.
• There will be a Gingerbread House Contest all day long at participating businesses.
• It'll be the one-month mark til Christmas, so, naturally, Downtown Downers Grove suggests you start creating a wish list.

Saturday, November 26, 2016

• The 7th Annual American Express Small Business Saturday event takes place all day long.
• Make sure you get your picture taken with the Gingerbread Boy and Gingerbread Girl around town.
• The Gingerbread Man Hunt and Gingerbread House Contest take place all day, again, at participating businesses
• Visit Santa in his Gingerbread House form 1-4 p.m. downtown.
• Use your Gingerbucks Reward Card.

Sunday, November 27, 2016

• Have breakfast with Santa at the Pinecone Cottage Tea House at 10:15 a.m. or Emmett's Ale House at 11:30 a.m. Reservations are required!
• Santa will be available for visits again in his Gingerbread House from 1-4 p.m.
• Board a complimentary carriage ride from 1-4 p.m. at 1028 Curtiss St.
• Have your picture taken with the Gingerbread Girl and Gingerbread Boy, who will be circulating around town again Sunday.
• The Gingerbread Man Hunt may be over, but don't miss the Gingerbread House Contest, which will still take place all day long.
• It's the last day you can use your Gingerbucks Reward Card.
