DOWNERS GROVE, IL — Downers Grove plans to close some roads in and around the downtown area Sunday to accommodate a planned protest. Main Street between Grant and Franklin is set to close at 11 a.m. and reopen shortly after the protest ends at 2 p.m.

The event will start at Downers Grove North High School at 12 p.m. and make its way south on Main Street to St. Joseph's Parish before heading back north. Downers Grove officials say driveways along the route will not be accessible during the protest.

"There will be a significant police presence before, during and after the event," officials added in a Facebook post. They said, "The safety of residents, visitors and participants is the Village's top priority."
