Downers Grove Cooling Centers Open Due Dangerously Hot Temps

Heat indices are expected to climb to 114 degrees or higher.

DOWNERS GROVE, IL — Temperatures are expected to rise to dangerously high levels over the weekend, prompting Downers Grove to share information about its cooling centers. The excessive heat warning takes effect at 10 a.m. Friday and expires at 8 p.m. Saturday, with heat indices possibly reaching as high as 114 degrees.

The village has three cooling centers that will be open. Village officials recommend calling ahead to make sure a cooling center is open before heading out.

Downers Grove Fire Station #2, 5420 Main St., open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Downers Grove Police Dept. Lobby, 825 Burlington Ave., open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Downers Grove Public Library, 1050 Curtss St., open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
