Downers Grove Official Leaving To Take New Job

Official has been with the village government for 13 years.

WESTERN SPRINGS, IL — Western Springs is adding a new position — the director of engineering services. And the village has hired a Downers Grove official.

Jim Tock is set to start Oct 12, making $115,000 a year, according to the village. His job is expected to mean savings for Western Springs.

In an email to Patch on Thursday, Western Springs spokeswoman Selmin Cicek said Tock brings a lot of municipal experience in managing complex engineering improvements.

"External consultants will still be required for work such as design/inspection engineering, and other services that require specific expertise," Cicek said. "It is anticipated that the savings from moving many engineering services in-house will more than cover the associated personnel costs."

According to his LinkedIn page, Tock has been with the Downers Grove village government for 13 years. He started as a staff engineer, then was promoted to engineering manager in 2014.
