Downers Grove Trick-Or-Treat 2020: Village Offers Safety Tips

Downers Grove has recommended a list of safety tips for those who trick-or-treat amid the pandemic.

DOWNERS GROVE, IL — Downers Grove's trick-or-treat 2020 will be different from other years due to the new coronavirus. At press time, Downers Grove has not established trick-or-treating regulations for 2020, but the village has released a list of safety tips for residents who decide to take part in trick-or-treating.

Residents who do not want to have trick-or-treaters at their home should leave their porch lights off, village officials said in a news release. Residents who choose to welcome trick-or-treaters should follow these safety tips:

  • Wear a cloth mask
  • Use hand sanitizer often
  • Disinfect high-touch surfaces, such as doorknobs and doorbells

For those who trick-or-treat, the village offers the following safety tips:

  • Trick-or-treat during daylight hours
  • Maintain at least six feet of social distance from others
  • Wear a mask that covers both your nose and your mouth
