Downers Grove Closes Village Hall, Part Of Police Station
Village hall and the police station were closed to civilians "out of an abundance of caution" Monday, officials said.

DOWNERS GROVE, IL — The village of Downers Grove closed village hall and part of its police station to residents Monday afternoon amid concerns of protests at police stations. Village officials said in a Facebook post that the closures come "out of an abundance of caution" amid protests and unrest in the wake of George Floyd's death.
Tuesday's village meeting was also canceled.
On Sunday, approximately 50 people broke into and looted the Best Buy on 1432 Butterfield Rd. in Downers Grove. Police say the incident included stolen merchandise and damage.

The DuPage County Sheriff's Office told Patch that it thwarted several looting attempts Sunday, including some attempts at Oakbrook Center.
