$500 Eagle Carving Taken, DUI Arrests: Police Blotter

Downers Grove police reports, March 29-31

SUNDAY, MARCH 31

DUI

Brent M. Tyson, 30, of the 3900 block of Vesper Court, Naperville, was arrested at 1:58 a.m. at 63rd and Main streets. Tyson was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, making an improper turn and failure to yield to an emergency vehicle. His black Nissan Altima was towed from the scene to an impound lot. He was released on I-bond and has a May 8 court date in Wheaton.

SATURDAY, MARCH 30

$200 Radio Removed

Someone took a $200 Clarion radio from a blue 1999 Honda Civic in a parking lot on the 7400 block of Winwood Way. The owner came out to the vehicle at 8:30 a.m. and saw that the radio was missing from the center of the dashboard. The vehicle was parked facing west in the north end of the lot. The owner was last in the vehicle at 7 p.m. March 29 and thinks he locked the doors to his vehicle. Police observed no signs of forced entry and no other items were missing.

FRIDAY, MARCH 29

DUI, Speeding

Gerald D. Bednar, 32, of the 5600 block of Katrine, Downers Grove, was arrested at 11:54 p.m. at 61st Street and Ridgewood Circle. Bednar was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, speeding, improper lane usage and failure to signal. His purple Chevy S10 was towed from the scene to an impound lot. He was released on I-bond and has a May 1 court date in Wheaton.

Eagle Carving Taken

A resident at 11:45 a.m. said that someone took a three-foot wood carving of an eagle from his front yard on the 4700 block of Cumnor Road. The incident occurred sometime between 7:30 p.m. March 28 and 9 a.m. March 29. The carving was located on the southeast corner of his home, weighed about 100 lbs. and is valued at $500. There were no suspects or leads at the time of the report.
