Football Recap: Downers Grove North Wins, South Loses in Season Openers

The Mustangs and Trojans finally hit the field Saturday following a night of rain delays and postponed games.

After a wild, stormy weekend of rain delays and postponed football games, Downers Grove North and South high schools finally took the field Saturday to open the 2013 season.

Downers Grove North (1-0) cruised to a 45-0 victory over host Lockport Township (0-1). At South High, the Mustangs (0-1) fell to Benet (1-0) by a score of 21-0.

Next week's schedule for local teams: 

  • Downers Grove North vs. Hinsdale South, 7:30 p.m. Sept. 6 
  • Downers Grove South at Proviso West, 7:30 p.m. Sept. 6
