Glen Ellyn To Consider Cannabis Zoning Amendments
The village said it favored waiting to see how cannabis sales impact other communities, but will review zoning amendments as well.
GLEN ELLYN, IL — After a recent public meeting to discuss the sale of cannabis in Glen Ellyn, village officials plan to consider possible text amendments, should the village decide to opt in. In a recent newsletter, officials said they are in favor of waiting to see the effect that cannabis sales have on surrounding municipalities.
Cannabis businesses and adult use will be legal in Illinois starting Jan. 1, 2020.
The village has planned a public meeting for Oct. 28 and will gather more information and feedback from residents in the meantime. Some of the topics planned for the Oct. 28 meeting include outlining where dispensaries would be zoned, how far they would be from schools, and whether other types of cannabis businesses can be permitted within village limits.
