Heat Wave Continues in DuPage County, Severe Thunderstorms Possible

Heat indices could reach 100 degrees across the Chicago area Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service.

The National Weather Service has issued a special weather statement warning DuPage County residents of unusually high temperatures Tuesday.

Highs will reach the low-to mid-90s in DuPage County on Tuesday, with heat index values as high as 101 degrees, according to the National Weather Service.

The hot and humid air mass will help fuel thunderstorm development Tuesday afternoon over central Wisconsin. Those storms are expected to slide southeast and could clip portions of northeast Illinois and northwest Indiana, according to the weather service.

The most intense storms could produce heavy downpours, damaging winds and large hail, according to the weather statement.

Temperatures in the mid-to high-80s are expected through the remainder of the week.
