Smartphones Swiped

A man reported at 9:54 p.m. that his belongings went missing while he was playing basketball at the Downers Grove Park Recreation Center on the 4500 block of Belmont Road. The man placed his $50 North Face jacket, a $300 Samsung Galaxy Note 2, keys, $60 and credit and debit cards in an open cubby that faces the basketball court.

While the officer was at the center for the theft, an employee approached him to report the theft of his $300 black iPhone 4S. He placed his phone on a countertop near the basketball court and left it there briefly while he took care of some of his duties. When he returned, the phone was gone. The total value of all the missing items was $725.

Police Blotter information is provided by local law enforcement agencies. Charges are not evidence of guilt. They are a record of police actions taken on a given day, and persons charged with a crime are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court. If you or a family member are charged or cited and the case is subsequently adjudicated, we encourage you to notify the editor. We will verify and report the outcome.
