Jewelry Stolen During Ruse Burglary In Downers Grove: Cops
Police say a man came to the home claiming a tree needed to be removed from the backyard.

DOWNERS GROVE, IL — Downers Grove police are investigating a ruse burglary incident in which several thousands of dollars worth of jewelry was stolen from a home in the 4300 block of Stanley Avenue.
According to a police report, the resident told police a red pickup truck pulled into their driveway around noon on Nov. 7. A man got out of the truck and told the resident he was with the city of Chicago and needed to speak with them about removing a tree in their backyard.
The man took the resident to the backyard and identified the tree that needed to be removed before leaving and saying he would return at a later date.

When the resident returned to their home, they noticed $40 cash was missing from their wallet and that several pieces of jewelry had been removed from their home.
