Man Forced Way Into Home In Downers Grove: Cops
Police say a man wearing a yellow safety vest forced his way into a home after claiming he damaged a pipe while working nearby.

DOWNERS GROVE, IL — A man wearing a yellow safety vest forced his way into a home in Downers Grove Wednesday, knocking a senior citizen who lived there to the ground. No one was injured in the incident, which took place in the 1000 block of Oak Hill Road.
According to police, the resident answered his door around 1 p.m. to find a man in a yellow safety vest. The resident told police that the man claimed that he had been working at a neighbor's house and struck a pipe, contaminating the water.
When the man asked to enter the home, the resident refused and began to close the door. Police say the man then forced his way in and knocked the resident to the ground.

While the resident was still on the ground, the man went into the home's bedrooms and rummaged through dresser drawers before fleeing the scene. The resident was able to crawl to a phone and call a neighbor, who alerted local law enforcement.
According to a police report, the resident told emergency responders that he was not injured and nothing appeared to have been stolen from the home.
