Man Tried to Lure Child into His Car in Downers Grove

DOWNERS GROVE, IL — A girl walking from Westmont to O'Neill Middle School in Downers Grove on Tuesday morning was followed by a man who tried to lure her into his car, police said.

The man was driving a silver Honda Accord and followed the child west on 59th Street, stopping twice to ask her to get into his car around 8:30 a.m. Police said he did not touch the girl. The man is described as white, 30 to 35 years of age, and thin. He wore a blue baseball cap, orange polo shirt and sunglasses.
