Meet Karen, Downers Grove Public Library Bookologist

The library is highlighting one bookologist at a time. This August, meet Karen.

DOWNERS GROVE, IL — Bookology: it’s the science of good books, making Downers Grove Public Library staff experts in the field, or bookologists.

Karen is a librarian in the Adult and Teen Services Department. She's lived in Downers Grove for most of her adult life and loves working at the library.

"I get to connect people to wonderful books, movies, and music. How great is that!" she says.

Lately, Karen's reading tastes have shifted. Previously a hardcore narrative nonfiction reader, Karen mostly reads historical and popular fiction now.

Karen is a movie fanatic and also enjoys listening to audiobooks. Some of her favorites include: "Still Foolin' 'em" by Billy Crystal, "Lucky Us" by Amy Bloom and "The Book of Unknown Americans" by Cristina Henríquez.

Karen also recommends her favorite mystery series, "Maisie Dobbs" by Jacqueline Winspear.
