As the nationwide COVID-19 vaccination effort continues, Midwestern University’s Multispecialty Clinics in Illinois and Arizona have been approved as COVID-19 vaccine Points of Distribution (POD).

Both Maricopa County and DuPage County have approved the University’s application to be a public health partner with the local municipalities. Midwestern is currently preparing infrastructure and logistics for storing and providing vaccines authorized under the Food and Drug Administration’s Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) phased rollout for the COVID-19 vaccines in both counties.

Midwestern University is establishing a cold chain storage process following CDC and local health protocols to handle the Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna COVID-19 vaccines that have been approved under the EUA. The cold chain storage and handling requirements for COVID-19 vaccine products will vary in temperature from refrigerated (2°C to 8°C) to frozen (-15°C to -25°C) to ultra-cold (-60°C to -80°C).
