3 Firearms Stolen From Downers Grove Home: Police Blotter

Two revolvers and a rifle were last seen on Halloween 2012, when the owner took them out to show some guests.

Three firearms worth a combined $2,700 are missing from a Downers Grove home, according to police.

The 29-year-old owner on April 22 reported his two revolvers and a rifle stolen from his residence on the 5800 block of Main Street. The firearms were kept in his basement, the police report said.

The owner last saw the firearms on Oct. 31, 2012 at his house while hosting a Halloween party.

"He stated he took them out from storage behind his furnace located in his basement, and showed them to some guests," the report said. "Since that time he has not had a need for them."

The owner only discovered the guns missing when he had a desire to shoot on April 14 and could not find them. He spent the following week asking family and friends if they had them or saw them.

A $650 silver Ruger .357 revolver and a $250 black J.C. Higgins .22 revolver were inside a black duffel bag and they each had locks on them. The $1,800 black Rock River rifle was in a black plastic rifle case and locked with two locks, the report said. The rifle itself had a trigger lock attached.

None of the firearms were loaded and no ammunition was taken, the report said. The guns were entered into the Law Enforcement Agencies Data System.

The owner does hold a valid firearm's owner identification card.
