New App Allows DuPage Residents to Report Road Safety Issues

Users can launch the app to map out, photograph and detail any safety problems they run into while walking or driving.

In an effort to keep roads and residents safe, DuPage County’s Division of Transportation announced Friday the launch of a new web-based app that will let drivers report potholes, signal outages and other road maintenance and safety issues.

The application was designed so residents could be involved with keeping county streets and trails safe for use, DuPage County announced in a release.

“This app is one more tool in our kit as we work to keep our roads in excellent condition,” Don Puchalski, the County Transportation Committee chairman, said in the release. “Using the application, motorists, bicyclists and pedestrians can alert us to an unsafe condition immediately so we can remedy the situation much faster.”

The app, which can be found online here, is available and downloadable for both iOS and Android devices. It was developed through a partnership between the Division of Transportation and the Geographic Information Systems Department.

How does it work? It’s pretty simple. Users can upload a photo of the road issue, type out the details of the problem and pinpoint its exact location on a map. Residents will also have access to a list of other road safety problems in their area and, if they wish, add to those existing reports.
