Ogden Avenue Starbucks Approved by Downers Grove Council
Downers Grove's third Starbucks location will be located at 1149 Ogden Ave., and will feature a drive-thru lane.

A third Starbucks is headed to Ogden Avenue in Downers Grove.
Plans to build the village's first drive-thru Starbucks at 1149 Ogden Ave. were unanimously approved by Downers Grove commissioners during Tuesday's council meeting.
The new, 1,800-square-foot store will be constructed on a vacant 15,642-square-foot property that formerly housed a dry cleaning business. The facility will include a drive-thru lane and a parking lot.
At the council's Sept. 3Â meeting, Community Development Director Tom Dabareiner said the Starbucks will bring significant improvements to the area.
"We're taking a vacant, challenged site and making it productive with a nationally known drive-thru product," Dabareiner said.
Commissioners agreed that the Starbucks is a welcome addition to Ogden Avenue, which has been a target for redevelopment in recent years.
"The improvement from what it is now and what it's going to be, (in addition to)Â the usefulness to the community and addition of sales tax revenue, will be a huge benefit," Olsen said.
The shop will be open from 5 a.m. to 10 p.m. seven days a week, according to village documents.
There are currently two other Starbucks locations in Downers Grove, one at 5002 Main St. and another at 76 Ogden Ave. Neither of the stores have a drive-thru.
