Night At The Firehouse Gives Kids Sneak Peek At Firefighter Life
The event features rappelling demonstrations, chances to slide down a fire pole, and more.
DOWNERS GROVE, IL — Kids who live in and around Downers Grove will have a chance to go behind the scenes into the life of their local firefighters at A Night At the Firehouse. The event, which is part of Fire Safety Week, will be held on Oct. 9 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Station #5, located at 6701 Main St.
Kids will have a chance to meet their local firefighters and to try sliding down a fire pole themselves. Good Samaritan Hospital emergency room nurses will also be on hand to help kids learn about the importance of fire safety.
There will be a number of educational demonstrations at A Night At the Firehouse, including live fires, a rappelling demo, and a demonstration that explains the protective gear worn by firefighters.
