No Flu Cases This Season At 26 Advocate Aurora Health Hospitals
Flu cases have dipped nationwide amid increased safety measures related to the coronavirus pandemic.
DOWNERS GROVE, IL — If you haven't heard of anyone you know having the flu this season, you aren't alone. Advocate Aurora Health recently announced that there have been no flu cases this year throughout its 26-hospital system, according to the Chicago Tribune.
Last year at this time, Advocate Aurora Health reported 13,000 flu cases.
Health experts assert the sharp decrease in flu cases is due in part to coronavirus mitigation measures, from mask-wearing to handwashing, Healthline reports. School closures might also have played a part in keeping the flu at bay this season, along with an increase in influenza vaccinations.

According to Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH), flu season usually runs from October through May, hospitalizing over 200,000 people nationwide annually. As of March 6, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reported 1,561 positive influenza cases from 711,116 test specimens.
