William J. McNamara, age 72, of Joliet passed away on Wednesday, August 22, 2018 at his late residence. He was born in Chicago, the son of the late Joseph and Mary (Doran) McNamara. He was a longtime resident of Downers Grove, moving to Joliet in 1998. He was a proud U.S. Army Veteran of the Vietnam War. Bill retired from Yellow Freight Systems as a Supervisor.
He is survived by his daughter, Kathleen (Luis Vazquez) McNamara of Joliet; his son, Joseph (Megan) McNamara of Downers Grove; grandchildren, Deana and Alexander Vazquez, Shawn, Brennan, Mia and Bennett McNamara; sister-in-law, Cheryl McNamara; and several nieces and nephews.

Preceded by his parents; sister, Mary (John) Ivancicts; and brother, Joseph McNamara.
As it was Bill’s request, cremation rites have been accorded. Family will receive all relatives and friends for a Memorial Gathering at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black at Essington Rds., Joliet, IL on Saturday, September 1, 2018 from 11:00 a.m. until the time of Memorial Service at 1:00 p.m. where Military Honors will follow.
