Police Blotter: Laptop Recovered, 7 Conducting Bars Missing

SATURDAY, MAY 11

Strange Recovery

Someone took a woman's black bag with a Dell laptop, calculator and paperwork from her Cadillac outside her home on the 4700 block of Stonewall Avenue. The incident occurred sometime between 6:30 p.m. May 10 and 6:45 a.m. on this day. At about 3 p.m., a man stopped by the house to drop off the black bag containing the belongings. The man was walking his dog earlier that day and found the bag on the northwest corner of Prairie and Stonewall. He looked further inside the bag and found business cards.

The woman began to walk towards Prairie from her house. "While walking, (the woman) discovered one of her business cards and calculator were lying underneath one of their neighbor's bushes," the police report said. The woman was not sure if her vehicle was locked during the incident. She also did not hear any unusual noises overnight and had no suspect information.

FRIDAY, MAY 10

Returned With the Money Gone

A woman noticed her wallet was missing after she came back from a 1 p.m. shopping trip on the 6200 block of Main Street. She went back to the store about an hour later and learned that someone had turned in her wallet. The only thing missing was $50.

Wall Hit With $500 Damages

Someone caused $500 worth of damages to a brick retaining wall that runs in front of about four houses on the 4000 block of Sterling Road. There was tire mark on a resident's driveway and also a mark on a corner of the wall that was removed and damaged. The tire track did not appear to belong to a large vehicle, the police report said. Village Code Enforcement was notified of the incident.

MONDAY, MAY 6

Copper Bars Copped

Someone took seven copper conducting bars worth $700 total from a business on the 2300 block of Curtiss, police said. The incident occurred sometime between 10:30 April 29 and 4 a.m. on this date. The bar's are used in the company's magnetic department and vary in length (14-18 in.) and diameter (.5-1.187 in.)
