Save Max Liquor Store Burglarized In Downers Grove

Police say someone broke into Save Max Liquor & Cigar Expo early Tuesday.

DOWNERS GROVE, IL — A suspect smashed their way into a Downers Grove liquor store early Tuesday and stole cash and cigarettes, according to a police report. The incident took place at Save Max Liquor & Cigar Expo, located at 1728 Ogden Ave.

Police got to the scene just after 3:30 a.m. to find an alarm going off. They noticed a window had been broken out in the front of the store.

Responding officers viewed video surveillance and determined that a man smashed the front window and entered the store around 3:35 a.m. The man was wearing a sweatshirt, shorts and a black face mask, but no further description was available as of Thursday afternoon.

The cost of the window damage is estimated to be $400, according to the police report. Police are still waiting on a tally of everything that was taken during the burglary, but report that $200 cash and an undetermined amount of cigarettes were stolen.
