SEASPAR Celebrates St. Patrick's Day with Help From Friends
SEASPAR Participants enjoy St. Patrick's Day celebrations with help from friends new and old alike.
March 17, 2021: It's not uncommon for SEASPAR participants to celebrate a holiday with a bang. Ordinarily, holidays at SEASPAR are celebrated with a plethora of themed activities. With the pandemic still looming and social distancing in effect, celebrating holidays presented a problem. Luckily, thanks to creative thinking and help from friends, holidays at SEASPAR have been anything but ordinary.
St. Patrick's Day celebrations at SEASPAR began earlier last week with a craft-making in-person event. Participants gathered safely at the Lisle Recreation Center, which was set up to inspire the holiday spirit. Participants took advantage of the opportunity to socialize with friends but spend the majority of the evening creating St. Patrick's day crafts.
The festivities continued later into the week during SEASPAR's St. Patrick's Day Dance Party, hosted virtually over Zoom. As with all themed dances at SEASPAR, the St. Patrick's Day Dance Party encouraged participants to dress in green and fun accessories. The packed virtual dance floor also welcomed students from Benet Academy in Lisle, who brought an extra level of high energy and encouragement to the mix. Throughout the event, Benet Academy students challenged SEASPAR participants to dance-offs and exchanged words of encouragement through the chat feature.

Students from the Onorach Mulhern Geraghty School of Irish Dance in Westmont performed a few sets of the iconic Irish dance as a special treat. Before their performance, dancers Ronan K. and GG K. provided quick lessons, which mostly covered the importance of foot stance and body posture. The high-energy leg-kicking performance mesmerized the audience, which made it hard to turn away. Those who did will have noticed a few participants contributing to the performance with their own moves, which were impressive for only one lesson.
SEASPAR thanks everyone who helped make this year's St. Patrick's day celebrations every bit more exciting. In times like these, when social distancing makes coming together ever so harder, their contributions are priceless.
