SEASPAR's Opens New Multi-Sensory Room Opens in Western Springs
A new sensory room available to residents of all 12 communities SEASPAR serves

The South East Association for Special Parks And Recreation (SEASPAR) and the Village of Western Springs have unveiled Ray’s Bay, a new multi-sensory room located in the Grand Avenue Community Center in Western Springs.
Ray’s Bay was dedicated in a virtual grand opening event on November 17, 2020. The room was named for Ray Jasica, a Western Springs resident, former SEASPAR Board member, and long-time SEASPAR supporter. “Naming the new multi-sensory room after Ray was an easy decision,” said SEASPAR Executive Director, Matt Corso. “I don’t believe there is a person more suited for this honor. Ray’s passion for SEASPAR’s mission is unmatched. SEASPAR is lucky to have a friend such as him.”
The new multi-sensory room will be available to residents with disabilities in the 12 communities SEASPAR serves in Cook and DuPage counties. The room is filled with modules and equipment specially designed to appeal to the auditory, tactile, olfactory, and visual senses. Multi-sensory rooms primarily benefit individuals with autism, sensory processing disorders, and ADHD.
SEASPAR offers access to the room through seasonal programming like the weekly Sensory Seekers program. Ray’s Bay joins the SEASPAR multi-sensory room family, which also includes the Wonders Multi-Sensory Room located at the Lisle Recreation Center.
