Sensory Sensitive Sundays Come To Downers Grove Library
The library will open an hour early on June 3, July 8, and August 5 to accommodate students with special needs.

DOWNERS GROVE, IL — The Downers Grove Public Library is launching a new program to serve children who have sensory issues. Sensory Sensitive Sundays, a three-part series, will start June 3 at 12 p.m.
During the program, the library will open its doors an hour ahead of schedule (at 12 p.m.) to give sensory sensitive kids a chance to explore the library with their families without too many other patrons present.
“The library can be unpredictable and overwhelming, especially for children who have sensory processing sensitivities and other special needs," the library's Children’s Department Manager Allyson Renell said. "By setting aside this hour exclusively for families with special needs children, we hope to provide a positive experience that is both accommodating, welcoming, and encourages future library visits.”
