Slight Decrease In New Coronavirus Cases In Downers Grove
Since March, Downers Grove has seen 3,439 coronavirus cases, according to DuPage County Health Department.
DOWNERS GROVE, IL — The number of coronavirus cases in Downers Grove has increased by 56 cases in the past week, according to information from the DuPage County Health Department (DCHD). This reflects a slight decrease from the previous week, which showed an increase of 59 cases.
As of Feb. 16, the village had reported 3,383 total cases of the new coronavirus. Those numbers had increased to 3,439 as of Feb. 23.

In nearby Westmont, the number of coronavirus cases had increased by 14 cases in the past week. The previous week, Westmont reported an increase of 23 cases. As of Feb. 16, there had been 1,794 cases reported in Westmont. The total number of cases reported in Westmont as of Feb. 23 was 1,808.

DuPage County recently topped 76,000 coronavirus cases and reported its first case of coronavirus variant B.1.17, which was first detected in the United Kingdom. The risk of transmission in DuPage County is currently classified as "substantial."
