Small Business Saturday: The Best Deals in Downers Grove

In honor of tomorrow’s Small Business Saturday, several shops in Downtown Downers Grove are offering great deals and bargains on local products. We have a list of all participating businesses and the best deals around town.

Small Business Saturday is a standing tradition encouraging citizens nationwide to keep their local economies thriving. It’s customary for towns to participate in the event the Saturday following Thanksgiving each year.

In Downers Grove, for every $100 spent at local and independent businesses, $68 stays in the local economy. If the same shoppers spent $100 at a popular chain store, only $43, at best, will recirculate throughout the town, according to Downer’s Grove’s website.

Now, let’s get to those deals:

• 221 Creations at 1008 Curtiss Street: Get a free holiday bag with any purchase, as long as supplies last.
• Avec Panache at 1010 Curtiss Street: Jerry, the Lanzi's candy man, will be visiting the shop and will be sampling and offering his classic treat for 20 percent off all day long; All ornaments will be buy 3 and get the most expensive one for half off; All florals, garlands wreaths and stems will be 20 percent off; Wrapping paper will be buy 2, get 1 free.
• Briosa Boutique at 5121 Main Street: Reverse progressive sale — from 9-10 a.m. items are 25 percent off; from 10-11 a.m. they'll be 20 percent off; from 11 a.m.-12 p.m. they'll be 15 percent off; and from noon until close (5 p.m.) items will be 10 percent off. Some exclusions apply.
• Evelyn Jane Boutique at 1008 Curtiss Street: $10 off of a purchase over $50; $20 off a purchase over $100.
• Evolution Music at 923 Curtiss Street: Music lessons at the Music Gym are as low as $40 a month right now, and staff members are always available to help you purchase your instrument, teach your first lesson, record a professional demo or perform live.

• Jeans and a Cute Top Shop at 5116 Main Street: Buy 1, get 1 30 percent off of all apparel; 20 percent off of all jewelry and accessories.
• Jolie Boutique at 5133 Main Street: 20 percent off the entire boutique all weekend.
• Louisa & Millie's Chocolates at 5129 Main Street: The store will be giving away chocolate-dipped candy canes.
• Main Street Barber Shop at 5232 Main Street: Guess the number of Christmas kisses or be the closest (without going over the right number) and win something special.
• Music Masters Worldwide at 5230 Main Street: Special pricing on Record Store Day items and discounts on all used items.
• RTT Cycle Shop at 5116B Main Street: Coffee and doughnuts will be free, and the store will offer 15 percent off of purchases, excluding service work.
