SPRING into action with the Downers Grove Park District's top 5 things to do outdoors!

The trees are budding and flowers are beginning to bloom - here are our top five outdoor activities to help you enjoy the spring weather

The trees are budding and flowers are beginning to bloom and its time to start thinking about getting outdoors and enjoying some spring weather - so here are our top five outdoor activities for the spring.

1.Hunt for Eggs
Grab a flashlight and a bag and join the hunt for candy-stuffed eggs under the moonlight on Mar 23. The Spring bunny will make sure to leave plenty of treats around the McCollum Park Ballfields for all who wish to participate in the Flashlight Egg Hunt - but register soon, this event is filling up fast.

2.Take a Full Moon Hike
After you’ve had your fill of candy-stuffed eggs, mark your calendars for another event under the moonlight! Explore the seasonal changes tied to the moon on a guided Full Moon Night Hike at Lyman Woods! April's full moon is called the Pink Moon. End the night by observing the moon through our telescope while enjoying s’mores around the campfire – yum!

3.Start Swinging
Spring-time is swing-time at Downers Grove Golf Club. Twenty-four permanent and turf hitting stations provide the perfect outdoor recreational activity this Spring. Whether you are just starting out with the game or you are a seasoned-pro, take advantage of the large practice putting green, sand trap and chipping area as well.

4.Join a Volunteer Work Day
If you have extra time to spare, spend it wisely by volunteering! Volunteering at one of the upcoming Lyman Woods Volunteer Workdays is the perfect way to make a difference in your community, while enjoying the beautiful outdoors, making new friends - all at the same time. Volunteers are needed throughout the year at Lyman Woods, but a great time to start is this Spring – especially if you have a “green thumb”.
