Superior Ambulance Offering Paid Basic EMT Training Starting Dec. 5

Apprentices will earn as they learn during seven-week course. Classes are being held in at corporate headquarters in Elmhurst.

ELMHURST, IL -- Superior Air-Ground Ambulance Services is offering paid Emergency Medical Technician Basic apprenticeships starting on Dec. 5 and is looking for serious candidates interested in career path training.

The class meets from 8 a.m. to 5-6 p.m. Monday through Friday for approximately seven weeks at Superior’s corporate headquarters at 395 W. Lake Street in Elmhurst. This is an accelerated course. Students who complete the course will be prepared to take the federal/state Illinois Department of Public Health test for EMT-Basic certification.

There is no tuition for the training and apprentices will earn as they learn. The paid class is $8.25 per hour; after 60 days, apprentices will be eligible for health benefits. Apprentices, who at the time of training are hired as full-time employees, must also agree to to work for Superior Ambulance for a minimum of one year after completing their training to be considered for this program. The class is a stepping stone to more advanced paramedic training.

Should you be chosen for this class, you will need to complete the requirements and bring the following list of documents to complete your process:

  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Clean/Current Motor Vehicle Report (obtained at any DMV only, $12)
  • I9 documents
  • Immunization records if available
  • Proof of High School graduation, GED, or college transcript. Transcript required.
  • Ability to lift 140 lbs. and work in a labor intensive position.
  • You will be fingerprinted for a criminal background check.
  • You will be sent for a physical, lift test and drug screen.
  • You will maintain a 75% GPA or better
  • You will agree to work for Superior Ambulance for a minimum of one year in order to be in this program.
