A Sweet Deal: Season's First Batch of Local Honey Ready For Sale

A 1-pound jar of the delicacy is just $10.

It’s time to make a visit to the Lyman Woods Nature Center — Downers Grove’s first fall batch of local honey is ready for sale, and doors open at 9 a.m. today.

Honey was harvested this fall from Lyman Woods’ apiary, or collection of beehives. It’s sold on a first-come, first-serve basis in two sizes: 1-pound jars for $10 and 8-ounce jars for $7.

The popular local product is sold only at the William F. Sherman, Jr. Interpretive Center at Lyman Woods during business hours. For the fall, that’s 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday (it’s closed Mondays), 9 a.m.-12 p.m. Friday, 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday and 1.-4 p.m. Sunday.
