Watts Of Love To Host 'Light Up The World' Virtual Race
The virtual race will kick off Aug. 21.
DOWNERS GROVE, IL — The Downers Grove-based Watts of Love will host its first virtual "Light Up the World" run to raise awareness about the worldwide issue of energy poverty. The two-week race will kick off Aug. 21 and participants can run a 5K, 10K, or half-marathon for the race.
Christine Dunne, Director of Operations at Watts of Love said in a statement, "This is a labor of love, and we are perfectly positioned to continue to operate and distribute lights and love to those that need it most thanks to our strong partnerships with our on the ground teams. Even during this time where international travel has all but halted, we have been able to continue our operations and extend our reach to some of the most remote and neediest communities on the globe."
The registration fee is $50 and will help support Watts of Love's mission to provide electricity to people in need throughout the world. More details are expected as the race date draws closer.
