1 Charged In Kane Co. Drug Overdose Death
A 22-year-old Elgin man is in custody in connection with the drug-induced homicide death of Crystal Villlegas of West Dundee.

KANE COUNTY, IL — A 22-year-old Elgin man faces a drug-induced charge in connection with the 2018 death of Crystal Villegas of West Dundee. Gehovani R. Gomez, of the 800 block of Bode Road, is accused of providing the heroin to Villeges that led to her death, according to a news release from the Kane County State's Attorney's Office.
Gehovani was charged this past week with drug-induced homicide, a Class X felony, in connection with the Sept. 6, 2018, overdose death, according to authorities. Prosecutors said Villegas purchased heroin from Gomez, later overdosing on the drug and dying. The Kane County Coroner's Office determined Villegas' death was due to heroin and fentanyl intoxication.
Gomez's bail has been set at $500,000 and he is in custody at the Cook County jail in connection with another case, according to a news release. Gomez faces between six and 30 years in prison.
