ELGIN, IL — a 41-year-old Bartlett man faces aggravated drunken driving charges for allegedly causing a crash that killed a 41-year-old Elgin woman in December, police said Monday. Brian Spina, of the 900 block of Shorewood Drive in Bartlett, turned himself into police on Monday.

Authorities say Spina was driving his Volvo S60 while under the influence when he crossed the centerline at about 6:29 p.m. on Dec. 18, 2018, and collided head on with a 2013 Chevrolet Express van, according to an Elgin Police Department Facebook post. The collision happened on East Chicago Street near Poplar Creek Drive in Elgin.

The Chevrolet Express then ran into a 2011 Kia Soul, according to authorities.
