Anderson Humane Gets $50,000 Grant

The grant from Petco Love is meant to help fund resources for the South Elgin animal shelter to provide life-saving care for local animals.

Anderson Humane (formerly Anderson Animal Shelter) has announced that it has received a $50,000 grant investment from the newly named, Petco Love, to support their life saving work of caring for animals in the northern Illinois region.

SOUTH ELGIN, IL — A local animal shelter has nabbed a $50,000 grant.

Anderson Humane announced last week that its shelter in South Elgin has received a $50,000 grant investment from the newly named, Petco Love, to support their of caring for animals in the northern Illinois region, according to a news release from the shelter.

“Today Petco Love announces an investment in Anderson Humane and hundreds of other organizations as part of our commitment to create a future in which no pet is unnecessarily euthanized,” said Susanne Kogut, President of Petco Love, in April 19. “Our local investments are only one component. This month, we will also launch the first of our national tools to empower all animal lovers to drive lifesaving change right alongside us.”

Petco Love is a nonprofit leading change for pets nationally by harnessing the power of love to make communities and pet families closer, stronger, and healthier. Since their founding in 1999 as the Petco Foundation, they’ve empowered organizations with nearly $300 million invested to date in adoption and other lifesaving efforts. And, they’ve helped find loving homes for more than 6.5 million pets in partnership with Petco and more than 4,000 organizations, like ours, nationwide.

“Petco Love has long supported Anderson’s efforts to save the lives of animals in need, and we are
proud to partner with them again this year as we expand our lifesaving programming to make an even greater impact in our community. We are thrilled and honored to have been selected as a Petco Love grant recipient and we look forward to sharing our expanded programming with the Fox Valley community,” said Beth Foster, CEO of Anderson Humane.

Anderson Humane, formerly Anderson Animal Shelter, is a non-profit dedicated to saving the lives of animals and to creating and supporting positive connections between people and animals.

Over the past 50 years, Anderson has helped over 80,000 homeless dogs and cats find loving homes. In 2020, the staff cared for over 7,000 homeless pets and orphaned and injured wild animals.
