Coronavirus Testing Unit Extends Stay At Elgin Community College

A mobile coronavirus testing unit that set up last week at Elgin Community College will be available through Sunday.

ELGIN, IL — Coronavirus tests will be available at Elgin Community College until Sunday, a week longer than initially planned.

State officials sent a mobile coronavirus testing unit to the college last week to bolster local testing capacities. That testing unit will now be available from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. through Sunday, except Saturday, according to Kane County Health Department officials.

Another event Saturday will force the testing unit to close that day.

Those who want to remain in their cars during the test must be seated at a functioning window, though both sites will also allow people to walk up, officials said. Test results should be available within four to seven days, officials said.

Residents can also be tested at the state's testing site across from the Chicago Premium Outlets in Aurora and many local health care facilities. Testing sites can be found here.
