Coronavirus Tests Available Monday At IDPH Mobile Site In Elgin

ELGIN, IL — Kane County residents can get free coronavirus tests Monday at the Elgin Sports Complex, with the Illinois Department of Public Health operating a mobile testing unit on the site.

The unit will be open until 4 p.m. Monday at the Elgin facility, 709 Sports Way. A mobile unit will also be available from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday at Hampshire High School, according to a news release.

Kane County Health Department officials are encouraging anyone who has been recently exposed to a potential or confirmed coronavirus case to get tested.

Those who want to be tested must provide a name and phone number so officials can reach them later with their test results. A photo ID is not required.

Those who want to remain in their cars during the test must be seated at a functioning window, though both sites will also allow people to walk up, officials said. Test results should be available within four to seven days, officials said.

People can also be tested at the IDPH’s testing site at 2450 N. Farnsworth Ave. in Aurora. The state-run site is open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. every day, though the site closes early when it reaches its capacity.
