Elgin Library to Host Cubs Trophy Tour This Weekend
The World Series trophy will make its first stop at a library when it visits Gail Borden Public Library this Sunday.

The Cubs Trophy Tour is coming to Elgin, giving fans the opportunity to see and take photos with the 2016 World Series Trophy. The trophy will be at Gail Borden Public Library, 270 N. Grove Ave. in Elgin, from 10 to 11:30 a.m. on Sunday, Feb. 12.
Fans can follow the Cubs on Twitter and Instagram for specific updates on the Cubs Trophy Tour using the #CubsTrophyTour hashtag. Team updates and fans' social media posts are also available on the Cubs website, along with a tentative schedule, highlights and more information about the World Series Trophy, according t library officials.
"Gail Borden Public Library has served Elgin and the surrounding area for more than 140 years and is proud to host the 2016 World Series Trophy," according to a library news release. "It is the first library in Illinois to do so."

What to Expect if You Stop Out
Library officials are providing some guidelines to those stopping out with the hopes everything will run smoothly on Sunday. They also want residents to know that not everyone will likely get their picture taken with the Cubs' trophy. The trophy will be on display at Wrigley Field this summer for those willing to wait and make the trip into the city.
Here is a look at the timeline for this Sunday's trophy tour, but be sure to check the library's website for any possible updates:

- 5 a.m.: The library parking lot will open at 5 a.m. We are asking that no one enter onto library property on foot or by car until that time. The Elgin Police Department will monitor the library on their rounds. Please know that there are no bathroom facilities available outside.
- 8 a.m.: The library will open its doors and people in line will begin to move inside. If there is a line outside previous to 8 a.m., we are asking that people start forming a line at the café entrance that will move to the south, turn west at Kimball and then move north along the bike trail behind the library (see map below). The first 500 people will receive wrist bands to indicate that they will get to take a picture with the trophy. It is possible that more people beyond 500 might also be able to get their picture with the trophy, but there is no guarantee.

- 10 a.m.: People will begin having their photos taken with the Cubs World Series trophy. Please bring a camera and or a cell phone. Cubs personnel will take your picture with your device. Please choose one device to be used per group. We encourage group photos but please be advised that you cannot take individual photos and a group photo—it must be one or the other. After your picture is taken, we would like people to exit the Library.
For those who would like to stay home and watch your loved ones with the trophy, this event will be streamed live through YouTube. Check back to the library's website for the link.

- There will be parking at the Library and across Kimball at the old Library parking lot. Please understand that Grove may be blocked from the south and/or north due to congestion.

More Information for Those Stopping Out
- Regular Library services will not be available until the library’s normal Sunday opening hour at noon.
- The Library book drop will be closed from Saturday night at 6 pm until noon on Sunday. Fines will be waived during this period.
- People may bring foldable chairs and covered, non-alcoholic drinks into the building. Strollers are welcome. The Library will also have some seating available.
- People with ADA needs will be accommodated.
- The Library staff does plan to provide some entertainment and there will be additional fun for people with library cards.
