Elgin man killed in crash on Monday identified

This was the second fatal accident at the same location in less than a week.

Malone D. Deloncker, a 29-year-old Elgin man, died after his car crashed into semi-trailer truck on Monday evening at the intersection of Route 20 and Harmony Road near Huntley, according to the Daily Herald. Deloncker's name had been withheld following the accident pending notification of his family.

According to the McHenry County Sheriff's Office, a truck pulling an empty semi-trailer crashed into Deloncker's 2002 Dodge Durango just after 7 p.m. on Monday.

The initial investigation indicates that Deloncker "failed to yield the right of way from the stop sign." The traffic on Route 20 does not have a stop sign, but the traffic on Harmony Road, where Deloncker was driving, is required to stop.
