Elgin Plans Drive-Thru Haunt At Wing Park
Little Park of Horrors will replace Nightmare on Chicago Street. The event will be held from Oct. 22 through Nov. 1.

ELGIN, IL — Elgin will be hosting its first-ever Little Park of Horrors - a drive-thru Halloween haunt at Wing Park that will replace the city's Nightmare on Chicago Street, city officials announced last week. Little Park of Horrors will run from 6 to 9 p.m. starting on Oct. 22 and continuing through Nov. 1 at the park, 1010 Wing Street in Elgin.
City officials say visitors can drive through a half-mile of "tantalizing terrors" where there will be "sprawling skeletons, creepy circus clowns and cavernous dwellings, all set to lighting effects and spooky music." On Saturdays and Sundays, live actors and atmospherics will be included in the experience.
Children under the age of 13 may find the event too scary, and a $5 per vehicle donation is suggested for actors and volunteers involved in making the event happen.

“We shared in the community's disappointment with the difficult but necessary decision to cancel Nightmare on Chicago Street this year,” said Kate O’Leary, special events coordinator for the city of Elgin. “ Staff put their heads together to develop a safe and exciting alternative event, and, along with the creative minds behind Nightmare on Chicago Street, Little Park of Horrors was created.”
Wing Park will close to the public daily at 3 p.m. from Oct. 22 to Nov. 1. The Wing Park Golf Course will not be affected by the closure.
