Elgin Roadside Safety Check Results in 13 Tickets

The Illinois State Police conducted the roadside safety check over the past weekend.

Elgin – Illinois State Police recently conducted a Roadside Safety Check on Route 31 south of Middle Street in Elgin from late on Sept. 20 to the early morning hours of Sept. 21. Here is a look at the citations issued during the roadside safety check:

  • Driving under the influence citation: 0
  • Other alcohol/drug citations: 2
  • Occupant restraint offenses: 2
  • Registration offenses: 6
  • Driver's license offenses: 5
  • Insurance violations: 2

In addition to the 13 citations written out, authorities issues 14 written warnings.

Alcohol and drug impairment is a factor in more than 30 percent of all fatal motor vehicle crashes in Illinois, and throughout the U.S., nearly 10,000 people die each year due to alcohol-impaired driving.
