Elgin U-46 Scraps Return To Schools Amid Coronavirus Surge

Some students were due to return to a hybrid learning model Monday before district officials postponed in-person classes through Dec. 4.

ELGIN, IL — Elgin Area School District U-46 is set to continue learning remotely through at least Dec. 4, with the Kane County Health Department recommending an “adaptive pause” as coronavirus cases quickly grow throughout the region.

District officials will continue working on ways to safely bring students back to classrooms, and they are still hopeful middle and high schoolers can return to a hybrid model for the second semester, Superintendent Tony Sanders wrote Monday in a letter to parents.
