Elgin Weekend Weather: Rain, Possible Storms And Snow

ELGIN, IL — We can expect some pretty severe weather this weekend. Rain this afternoon with strong winds gusting as high as 30 mph and possible storms Friday night. The rain is expected to continue through Saturday afternoon.

Around 5 p.m. on Saturday, though, the rain may turn into snow as the temperature drops, but we shouldn't expect to see much, or any, accumulation of snow.

We'll get a break on Sunday when the skies are supposed to clear up, but it will be chilly with a high temperature of 34.

The National Weather Service issued a hazardous weather outlook warning residents of some rough weather Friday and Saturday. Friday is under a limited thunderstorm risk. Saturday, we may see heavy winds with gusts as high as 35 mph, possibly thunderstorms and maybe snow.

Today: Rain, mainly after 4pm. High near 43. South wind around 15 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.

Tonight: Rain and possibly a thunderstorm. Low around 40. South wind 5 to 15 mph becoming north after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

Saturday: Rain before 5pm, then rain and snow likely. Temperature falling to around 37 by 5pm. Breezy, with a north northwest wind 10 to 15 mph increasing to 15 to 20 mph in the morning. Winds could gust as high as 35 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. Little or no snow accumulation expected.

Saturday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 25. Northwest wind 10 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph.

Sunday: Sunny, with a high near 34. West northwest wind around 10 mph, with gusts as high as 15 mph.

Sunday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 26.
