A look at some of the first babies born in the Chicago suburbs in 2019.

Kane County, IL – An Elgin welcomed the first baby born in Cook County in 2019. Yarehlie Nava was born to Maria Ramirez and Freddy Nava at 12:05 a.m. at St. Alexius Medical Center in Hoffman Estates, hospital spokesman Timothy Nelson told Patch. She weighed 8 pounds, 15 ounces and was 21 inches in length.
The baby is Ramirez’s fifth child but her first girl. She was due on Dec. 29 – but decided to make her appearance a couple days later, according to the Chicago Tribune.
“I thought I could only have boys, so I wasn’t really setting my expectations too high for a girl,” Ramirez told the Chicago Tribune. “When I found out from the ultrasound, I was still not believing it. I was like, I’ll believe it the day she’s born — and here she is.”
